Invitation to MEFORM 2026
The Institute of Metal Forming of the Technical University Freiberg cordially invites you to MEFORM 2026, which will take place on the 19th and 20th March 2026 in Freiberg. This conference addresses industrial and research developments in the fields of material science and production technology for metallic semi-finished products and is furthermore a platform for discussing the latest challenges and innovations in metal forming. All areas of forming technology, from forging and rolling, including flat and caliber rolling, to wire drawing will be discussed.
Each participant can also attend one of two workshops:
W1: The transition toward sustainable manufacturing and lightweight design poses major challenges for the metal-forming and steel industries, which the LightForge project tackles through the development of low-density Fe–Mn–Al–C steels and a fully integrated digital process chain. This workshop presents LightForge’s approach under the theme “How to design a new material and product,” connecting alloy design, numerical simulation, experimental validation, and life cycle assessment. Participants will see how industrial and academic perspectives come together to meet ecological, economic, and technological demands. They will gain a holistic overview of performance–manufacturability balancing, digital process optimization, experimental workflows, and sustainability assessment.
W2: Feeling overwhelmed by the ever-growing sea of scientific literature? Conducting thorough literature reviews is a critical but time-consuming aspect of any research project. In this workshop, you'll learn how to leverage the power of AI-powered tools to streamline your workflow and dramatically enhance your research efficiency. This workshop will introduce you to a novel "detective mindset" for approaching literature reviews. We'll explore a suite of cutting-edge digital tools designed to help you quickly grasp key findings, identify emerging trends, and build a robust understanding of your research topic. By the end of this session, you'll be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to conduct efficient, high-impact literature reviews that propel your research forward.
(Please select one. Each participant can only attend one workshop).
We are looking forward to your participation!
